Storm Damage Insurance Reinstatement
External repairs and a full loft refurbishment following water ingress through the chimney
When a storm drove rainwater in through the chimney, the loft suffered extensive damage. Stagbrook surveyed the property and worked with the loss adjuster to agree the scope and timescale for the reinstatement. The work covered both the exterior of the building and the loft itself, from renewing the render to fitting new carpet.
The Brief
Survey the property to establish the extent of the storm damage.

Plan scaffolding and access carefully on a busy high street.
Repair the external finishes and reinstate the damaged loft.
Our Approach
We began with a site survey, using a drone to inspect the chimney and surrounding areas from above. The survey helped us identify the issues and gave us a clear basis for agreeing the repairs and timeframe with the loss adjuster.
The busy high street shaped how we planned the work. We took particular care over the scaffolding and site access, accounting for passing pedestrians as well as the team working at height.
Craftsmanship & Detail
We stripped back the existing finish on the fascias, applied new render and repainted the exterior. In the loft, we replaced both windows, replastered and decorated the room, and fitted new carpet. Our team also carried out the internal joinery, making a headboard to suit the finished space.
The Result
The loft is usable again, with two new windows, freshly plastered and painted walls, and a headboard made for the room. The external repairs and repainting were completed as part of the same reinstatement, with Stagbrook managing the work from the initial survey through to the final finishes.
