Exterior House Restoration & Decorating | Sevenoaks
Restoring Character Whilst Protecting the Property
This Sevenoaks home required far more than a fresh coat of paint. Years of exposure to the elements had left the exterior looking tired, with deteriorating timber windows, weathered render and a chimney in need of repair.
Our brief was to restore the property's appearance whilst carrying out the essential repairs needed to protect it for years to come. The result is a brighter, cleaner exterior that retains the home's original character while benefiting from carefully considered restoration work throughout.
The Brief
The homeowners wanted to improve the kerb appeal of their property without replacing original features unnecessarily.
Following a full inspection, we identified a programme of works that included repairing and repointing the chimney, restoring damaged timber windows, preparing all external surfaces and redecorating the front and rear elevations. By completing the repairs before decorating, we were able to achieve a finish that not only looked exceptional but was built to last.
Works Completed
Full exterior repaint to the front and rear elevations
Chimney repointing and render repairs
Exterior preparation and decorating
Brickwork repainting
Timber window restoration
Specialist timber repairs using the Repair Care system where appropriate
Filling, sanding and preparation of all timber joinery
Repainting of windows, sills and architectural details
Final finishing throughout
Timber Window Restoration - Repair or Replace?
One of the most common questions we receive is whether timber windows should be repaired or completely replaced.
The answer depends entirely on their condition.
Where timber decay is localised and the surrounding structure remains sound, specialist repair systems such as Repair Care allow damaged sections to be carefully removed, rebuilt and protected. When carried out correctly, these repairs provide a durable, long-lasting solution while preserving the original joinery.
However, repair isn't always the right answer.
If our inspection shows that the window has deteriorated beyond economical or structural repair, we will always recommend replacement. Our priority is providing honest, professional advice that delivers the best long-term outcome for both the property and the homeowner.
For this project, the windows were suitable candidates for restoration, allowing us to retain the original timber, minimise disruption and provide a cost-effective solution without compromising on quality.
Every property is different, and we'll always explain the available options so our clients can make an informed decision based on the condition of the building, their long-term plans and their budget.
The Result
The completed transformation has dramatically enhanced the appearance of this Sevenoaks home.
Freshly decorated render, restored timber windows, repaired chimney masonry and revitalised brickwork have given the property a crisp, elegant finish while preserving many of its original architectural features.
By investing time in the preparation and repair stages before decorating, we've not only improved the appearance of the home but also helped protect it from future weather damage, extending the life of the existing materials wherever possible.
